How to Play

balancing thrust, angle, speed, and fuel for a soft landing

Game Guide

Overview

Lunar Lander simulates a small craft falling toward a narrow cyan pad under constant gravity. Horizontal drift, vertical speed, rotation, and remaining fuel all matter. A successful touchdown requires the hull to be above the platform, descending gently, and close to upright. After either a landing or crash, a fresh approach begins immediately with a new flight.

Controls

Rotate with Left and Right. Hold Up or the upper touch control to fire the main thruster in the direction set by the craft angle. Thrust can reduce descent, cancel sideways drift, or move toward the platform, but every burn consumes fuel. Release early to coast and make smaller corrections. Reset restores the initial orbit while preserving the stored best.

Scoring and Progress

A soft landing awards a large base value plus a fuel-conservation bonus. Excess vertical speed, too much tilt, or contact outside the marked pad counts as a crash and removes a life. The fuel percentage appears in the status panel so the player can compare safe control with wasteful hovering. Repeated landings increase level and rating without imposing a final mission timer.

Strategy Tips

Begin by correcting horizontal drift while altitude is plentiful. Rotate only enough to create the needed side force, then return upright before the final descent. Short pulses are easier to judge than a long burn. Watch the craft relative to both pad edges, reserve fuel for braking, and avoid chasing perfect centering after vertical speed becomes dangerous.

Mobile Play

On touchscreens, the left, thrust, and right controls are separated into generous targets and remain visible in dynamic portrait height. Debug steering deliberately oscillates and burns imperfectly, demonstrating gravity and recovery rather than tracing a fixed animation. The state export includes position, velocity, angle, fuel, platform bounds, score, level, and lives for physics verification.
